Jane's Addiction

Twenty years ago, Perry Farrell ( or as his Mom named him, Peretz Bernstein – OY VEY), lead singer of the band Jane’s Addiction came up with the idea of putting together a music festival that will give alternative rock bands an opportunity to show their talent, bring hip hop to the masses and also travel the world with this festival.

The first Lollapalooza festival, held in Chicago, managed to combine act like Nine Inch Nails with Ice T. The success was out of control. Not only you can listen and rock out to some of the great music acts around, Lollapalooza also offers a field for biking, a farmer’s market, enjoy arts and crafts and eat some gourmet goodies.

But have you ever heard about Lollapalooza? Do you know where this name comes from? Let me fill you up on that !!!!

Lollapalooza’s name came from a Three Stooges movie. Perry Farrel heard the name in one of the movies. It was first designed to be a music festival and it would also be used for the farewell of Nine Inch Nails as a band. It became so successful that also got an international install in Santiago, Chile in 2011.

The number of acts grow each year but they have to be an eclectic mix. It would not be Lollapalooza if it would not be mixed and exciting. It is the only festival that showcases all types of 
sounds to every tribe.

But if you think that Lollapalooza only had glory days, you are deeply mistaken. With the decline of Alternative rock, the volume of TKTS sold declined. Also, Kurt Cobain died at the week of the 1994 festival installment, having Nirvana canceling the opening act.Kidpalooza, an offspring of Lolla, is also on the road showcasing young talents. Perry Farrel himself chooses the acts.

This week, from the 29^th to the 31^st, Lollapalooza is being held in Brazil at São Paulo’s Jockey Club. Pearl Jam, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers are some of the acts playing at the festival. I am sure that with the lineup this concert is having, it will end up being historical. Below, a small pick on what's going on in Brazil for you!
