Miami ranks as No. 1 city people are relocation to.

 They're not just coming to soak up the sun for a weekend. Remote workers and retirees flock to the Sunshine state in search of beaches, warm weather, low taxes and more affordable housing. As Redfin puts it, people are leaving big, expensive cities in search of more affordable places to live, and, Miami is the place to be! 

The website move.org reported that Florida was the No. 1 destination for relocating Americans in 2020.

 Relocators with substantially greater salaries are finding themselves here, overjoyed by Miami’s lower cost of living and great weather. We also see more businesses moving to Miami and setting up shops. Interest in relocating to Miami has tripled since last year and now ranks higher than any other destination in the U.S., according to a new report from real estate website Redfin.com. 

 According to data, the top reasons for people moving to the Sunshine State included retirement, lifestyle, family and jobs. According to the National Association of Realtors, a total of 8.9 million people changed address since the start of the pandemic. The Association reports that close to 28% of the people relocating to Florida came from Texas and another 15% relocated from New York, with a little over 6% coming from California. 

 Finally, Miami’s is becoming more and more of a global city offering excellent schools, arts, culture, fashion, fine-dining, museums and much more. The Sunshine State no income tax status is also a big attraction for those moving out of states that tax individuals on income. Florida is one of only nine states in the U.S. with no income tax which makes it even a more attractive destination for people relocate to.

 Florida’s popularity isn’t expected to end any time soon: it’s expected to gain an average 845 new residents a day until 2025, according to state projections. Florida is showing to be a popular place people want to call home.
