# Rio de Janeiro will host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games  and we are so glad!

# The historic decision to take the greatest sporting competition in the world to South America was announced by the International Olympic Committee on 2 October 2009, during its 121st Assembly, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Rio will be the first South American country to host the Olympics, and it will feature the addition of two new sports: golf and rugby.

Barra da Tijuca will host most of the venues of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016. The rest will be located in three other zones: Copacabana Beach, Maracanã andDeodoro; Barra da Tijuca will also house the Olympic Village.
