SCHOCHU: a japanese treasure! # LOVE IT!

For the ones who think that japanese libations are limited to sake and beer, they are NOT! I just tried this delicious Japanese white liquor, called SCHOCHU and felt in love with IT immediately.  Shochu is often translated into English as "sweet potato liquor" # sweet potatoes form the base, shochu can also contain rice, barley, buckwheat and even sugar cane.

The brand we had the pleasure to taste is called Moriizo, which is made from organic sweet potatoes grown in Kagoshima. # The best shochu comes from Kagoshima, which is to shochu what Scotland is to whisky # Moriizo is produced only 1000 bottles a month, and thus, some people buy it in order to sell at auctions, which eventually raises the price unreasonably higher.

In my opinion, it taste like cachaca / whisky
and leaves a pleasant aftertaste in the mouth. Alcohol by volume: 25% and people say that; "Drinking shochu doesn't give you a hangover." # OBA!!!!!! # thats a great deal! # specially when you leave in NYCity and has so many social events to go to ( and off course, drink @ !) # While sake may be better known abroad, shochu has been more popular in Japan since 2003.# The taste varies widely!

# Give it a try guys! Its E-X-T-R-A-O-R-D-I-N-A-R-Y!
