Tom Jobim Statue Inaugurated in Rio at Ipanema Beach
Twenty years after his death, the super talented Brazilian composer Tom Jobim is being celebrated in Brazil.
A statue in his honor has been inaugurated yesterday (December 8th) in Rio, at Ipanema Beach. Crafted of clay and bronze by sculptor Cristina Mota, the monument shows "Tom" Jobim walking with a guitar over his right shoulder. Jobim was also one of the names behind the creation of Bossa Nova, and was immortalized by songs like “ A Garota de Ipanema ” (Girl from Ipanema). #BlaNYCPRGirls just adore him!
Tom Jobim died on December 8, 1994, aged 67, in New York, following a heart failure, while fighting against cancer.
