What an absolute dream of an evening! On October 30th, we had the incredible honor of joining the Samadi Soul Ceremony at the stunning Faena Hotel Miami Beach, where the lush vibes of the Amazon met the electric pulse of South Beach.

Through his medicine songs, ancestral stories, and a sacred invocation to the forest spirits (hello, “Spirit of the Animal” theme!), we journeyed deep—feeling the vibrations of the earth, the pull of ancient prayers, and that undeniable spark of unity. Amid the ceremony’s flow, we were offered a delicious cocoa-based drink that perfectly captured the event’s essence: the Reza Cacao elixir. This rich, velvety brew—infused with wild Amazonian cacao and subtle herbal notes evoking the Huni Kuin’s deep connection to the land—warmed us from the inside out, opening our hearts with its bittersweet depth and grounding energy. It was more than a sip; it was a communion with the “food of the gods,” leaving a lingering glow of joy and presence that carried us through the night.

Right from the entrance, the magic hit us like a warm embrace. As a welcoming gesture embodying the Huni Kuin’s “Haux Haux” spirit—a profound philosophy of openness, reciprocity, and heart-centered living—we were invited to have our eyelids gently painted with urucum, the vibrant red annatto seed dye sacred to the tribe. This ancient ritual, often used in Huni Kuin ceremonies to symbolize protection, vitality, and a deepened inner vision, felt like a portal opening right there at the threshold.

The magic truly unfolded with Chief Mapu Huni Kuin, the revered spiritual leader and guardian of Huni Kuin wisdom from the Brazilian Amazon. As the founder of the Huwã Karu Yuxibu Center, Chief Mapu isn’t just sharing traditions—he’s breathing life into them. We kicked off with a soothing sound bath led by Jennifer Denali, 1111 Gong, and Illuminate, melting away the week’s chaos like a cosmic reset button.0 Then, Chief Mapu stepped in, his voice a bridge between worlds.
